INTRODUCTION TO PINEAPPLE

Pineapple is a poker variant with similarities to Texas Hold’Emand Omaha Poker. However, players in Pineapple start with three hold cards as opposed to two cards. This is typically a game that is played in people’s homes- NOT in the casino. However, it can be found on online venues with a variety of limits. It is typically played as a limit poker game, but it can be easily transformed into a no-limit of pot-limit structured game.

THE RULES

Wiki

The set-up of Pineapple follows the Texas Hold’Em structure exactly, except players receive three cards as opposed to two. This is followed by a pre-flop betting round, betting begins with the player sitting to the left of the dealer.

Reminder, as in Texas Hold’Em, players must put out the blinds. The player directly to the left of the dealer is the small blind and the player to their left is the big blind. Both these players must place a bet before they receive any cards.

Before the flop is dealt, players must discard one hole card. After, the flop, the turn, and the river betting rounds proceed in the same exact manner as Texas Hold’Em.

During betting, players may fold, call, or raise:

Pineapple Poker Wikipedia

  • Fold – The action of surrendering your cards to the dealer and sitting out the hand. If one folds their cards in the first round of betting, they lose no money.
  • Call – The action of matching the table bet, which is the most recent bet that has been placed on the table.
  • Raise – The action of doubling the amount of the most recent bet.

The player with the highest ranking hand after the last round of betting (after the river) wins the full pot. To learn about how poker hands rank, click here.

is very similar Pineappleto Texas Hold’em Pokerwith the exception that players are dealt three instead of only two hole cards.Texas Hold’em is the world’s most popular poker game. The three main variants of Texas Hold’em are: Fixed Limit, Pot Limit and No Limit. All variants have the same basic game structure and hand values. The amount of the bets (bet sizes) is the only thing which distinguishes them.

Crazy Pineapple Poker Rules

To begin playing Crazy Pineapple Poker, the dealer shuffles the deck of 52 poker cards. The dealer seat is marked with the dealer button. This button moves clockwise to the left after every round. Usually the dealer is played by the house (in casinos and in online poker rooms). In home games, the player with the dealer button is giving out the cards. Once a player is eliminated from the game, he can take over the responsibilities of the dealer in order to speed up the game a little bit.

Goal of Crazy Pineapple Poker

The goal of Crazy Pineapple Poker is to have the winning hand. The winning hand consists of five cards, formed from up to two hole cards ( the third hole card is put aside after the flop) and up to five community cards from the board.

Blinds

As in Texas Hold’em, blinds have to be paid in Crazy Pineapple Poker. The blinds are also called forced bets. The player to the left of the dealer is the small blind and the player to left of the small blind is the big blind. Before any cards are dealt, the two blinds have to pay the small and big blind, for example $5 and $10.

Dealing the Cards

Each player, clockwise starting at the small blind, is dealt three cards face down. These cards are called hole cards. When all cards have been dealt, the first round of betting in Crazy Pineapple Poker.

The first round of betting (pre-flop) in Crazy Pineapple Poker

After all the hole cards were dealt, the first person to the left of the big blind starts playing poker. He has three options: call (pay the same amount as the big blind), raise (increased his bet to a higher amount) or folding (laying down his cards). A raise must be of at least the same amount as was previously bet.

Clockwise, each of the players decides on one of the possible actions he can take. Once every player has called the last bet, the round is over.
After the first betting round is completed, the dealer mucks the top card of the deck. This action, also known as “buring the top card”, is used in order to prevent fraud in the event that someone has seen the top card. The dealer then places three cards face up on the board. This is called the “flop”.

Second betting round (flop) in Crazy Pineapple Poker

The first player left of the button, which is still in the hand, can now check or bet. After he has checked or bet, he must discard one of his three hole cards face down into the muck. This rule is, along with being dealt three hole cards, the only difference between Crazy Pineapple Poker and the more common Texas Hold’em.

The next player can then fold, check, raise or call. The round ends when bets/raises have been called and after all players have discarded one of their hole cards into the muck.

Third round of betting (turn) in Crazy Pineapple Poker

After the second betting round is finished and the top card was burned, the dealer deals a fourth community card, the “turn” to the board. The action goes on as during the previous betting round, with the exception that the players now don’t muck one of their hole cards anymore.

Fourth betting round (River) in Crazy Pineapple Poker

After the turn and after the dealer has burned the top card from the deck, the final community card, the river, is placed on the board. A final round of betting follows. When the action is over and if there are two or more players remaining n the hand, then the showdown follows.

Showddown in Crazy Pineapple Poker

The player who has most recently increased (or if was just checked: the first player left of the dealer) puts his cards face up on the table. The following players can now fold their cards (if their hand is weaker), or show their hand. The winner is the player with the best combination of five cards. He may use none, one or two hole cards and the corresponding difference of board cards to form his best hand. As in Texas Hold’em, the same rules for hand strength apply for Crazy Pineapple Poker as well. The hand strengths (in descending order) are:

Royal Straight Flush (five cards in sequence of the same suit (color), with the ace as the highest card)

Straight Flush (same as a straight, but with cards of the same suit)

Four of a Kind (quads, four cards of the same rank, e.g, four queens)

Full House (three matching cards of the same rank and a two matching cards of the same rank, for example, three Kings and two deuces)

Fixed Limit, Pot Limit and No Limit Crazy Pineapple Poker

In Fixed Limit Crazy Pineapple Poker, the bet sizes in the first two rounds are of the same size as the big blind. On the turn and river , the bets increase to the double of the amount of the big blind.

In Pot Limit Crazy Pineapple Poker, the bet size is limited to a maximum of the chips that are already in the pot.

In No Limit Crazy Pineapple Poker, the stakes are not limited, which means that each player can bet any amount, provided that he has the necessary amount of chips in his stack.
